The Garfagana is for sure one of Tuscany best kept secret’s !, when the rest of Tuscany is jammed with people and traffic the Garfagnana is having another quiet and peaceful day.

Thanks to our location in the lush Serchio River valley north of Lucca and Pisa, surrounded by a natural barrier of 2 mountain ranges, the Apennines and the marble mountains of the Alpi Apuane. One cannot see or hear the noise of the cities, but we are still close enough to experience their wonders:

By car

From the South: From Lucca take the road signed to Castelnuovo di Garfagnana (SS 445). From Castelnuovo take the signs to San Romano in Garfagnana, following the signs to Agriturismo Braccicorti and getting into the SP 16 road. Following this road, just after the village of Pontecosi one will see signs to the right for our centre and lodge.
From the North: Head to the Town of Aulla and from there follow the road signed to Casola in Lunigiana-Piazza al Serchio. In Piazza al Serchio go onto San Romano in Garfagnana (SP 16 road), pass through Villetta and immediately after the signs for 'Frazione Pontecosi', the lodge has its entrance on the Left hand side.

By train

Train line is Lucca-Aulla, with our local station at Villetta San Romano, or otherwise a stop in Castelnuovo Garfagnana becouse not all the trains stop in Villetta. 1 hour journey from Lucca and 50 min. from Aulla. Cost from Lucca 3.30euro

By plane

The nearest airport to Braccicorti is 'Galileo Galilei' in Pisa. From here you can reach us by train (Pisa-Lucca-Castelnuovo/Villetta) or renting a car and driving to Pisa-Lucca-Braccicorti (see above).

Other details for finding Us

There is Easy access to the valley by road from Aulla or Lucca, and from across both ranges of moutains, from Modena and Massa, all roads link up to main Autostradas.

Nearest airport is that of Pisa International with others of Genova and Bologna and Florence being possible alternatives.

Our operations are based at our Agriturismo Braccicorti. We are located 10 min from Castelnuovo di Garfagnana and at the train stop of Villetta/San Romano, although one can use Castelnuovo too. We have self contained Villas and rooms, in which one can stay while on the tours.(Availability depending)
